Original Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler rejoined his old band on stage yesterday (Wednesday, July 6) in Cincinnati, Ohio to perform the two classics “Out Ta Get Me” and “My Michelle”, marking Adler’s fist appearance with Gn’R since 1990.

Singer Axl Rose introduced Adler to the Brown Stadium crowd by simply saying: “On the drums, you might know this guy. Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Steven Adler.” After playing “Out Ta Get Me”, Axl said: “I guess we should do another” before breaking into “My Michelle”.

The remainder of the Cincinnati show featured the same band lineup that has already been on the road, with singer Axl Rose, guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan, being joined by keyboardist Dizzy Reed, guitarist Richard Fortus, drummer Frank Ferrer and second keyboardist Melissa Reese.

Sources claimed that Adler was having back surgery around the time of Guns N’ Roses’ April 1 concert at The Troubadour in Los Angeles, which was the real reason his band ‘Adler’ canceled their show at the Whisky A Go Go. The LA Weekly writer claimed that he was also “told [Adler was] not ready to tour with GN’R, not yet, and maybe not ever.”

Adler was fired from Guns N’ Roses in 1990 due to drug problems and was replaced by Matt Sorum.

Adler said in an interview last October that he would be the last person to hear about his involvement in a Guns N’ Roses reunion because Slash couldn’t trust him to keep the information secret. “I’ve known for Slash thirty-what… thirty-nine years, and he knows that I would climb to the [highest] mountain and I would do, as Paul Stanley would say, ‘shout it out loud,'” he said.
