The Charlotte Observer reports that former MANOWAR guitarist Karl Logan has been sentenced to five and a half years in prison for possession of child pornography.

A spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office reports that the sentence was handed down by criminal court judge Judge Max Cogburn Jr. on Monday.

Logan will remain out of prison until he is assigned a facility by the federal Bureau of Prisons, at which point Cogburn will self-report himself into custody.

The former MANOWAR guitarist was arrested in August 2018 in Charlotte, North Carolina and charged with six counts of third-degree exploitation of a minor. He was then incarcerated after pleading guilty to two child-pornography counts.

According to the arrest warrants, Karl was apparently in possession of a number of videos which depicted young girls between the ages of four and 12 engaged in sexual activity with unidentified men.

A grand jury indicted Logan in 2019 on one count each of receiving and possessing child pornography.

Days after Karl’s arrest, MANOWAR issued a statement saying that he would no longer be playing with the band. He has since been replaced by guitarist E.V. Martel.

Karl joined MANOWAR in 1994 as the replacement for David Shankle.
