GHOST paid tribute to late DEATH frontman Chuck Schuldiner during their recent concert in Tampa, Florida

Just prior to playing the song “Cirice” at their show at the Yuengling Center on Tuesday (September 6), one of GHOST‘s Nameless Ghoul guitarists played the opening riff of the DEATH song “Zombie Ritual“. You can check out fan-filmed footage below.

Schuldiner founded the pioneering death metal band DEATH almost four decades ago in Orlando, Florida. He has been cited as a massive influence within the genre by numerous musicians within death metal and extreme metal.

Chuck Schuldiner died in December 2001 after losing a battle with pontine glioma, a rare type of brain tumor.

The track “Zombie Ritual” comes off the debut album from DEATH, 1987’s “Scream Bloody Gore“, which can also be heard below.
