KING DIAMOND says that he once met rapper Post Malone backstage at a SLAYER show but had no idea who he was.
Malone has collaborated on recordings with such rock and metal luminaries as Ozzy Osbourne as well as MOTLEY CRUE drummer Tommy Lee. He has also taken the stage live with artists such as Slash, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer Chad Smith and YouTube guitar sensation Jared Dines.
KING DIAMOND tells Metal Hammer in a new interview: “I did meet Post Malone backstage at a Slayer concert. It was funny, because he got a picture with me and I didn’t know who he was. It was only later that I found out he was this huge star, far bigger than I’ll ever be. I don’t know much about new music – the closest I get is Volbeat.”
METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett also appears in the photo and actually uploaded the pic to his Instagram. You can check it out below.
“So… three guys walk into a Slayer show… and…” Hammett captioned.
Despite Post Malone being an accomplished rapper, he has named MEGADETH, METALLICA and PANTERA as his favorite acts. The hip-hopper also sports a tattoo of late PANTERA guitarist Dimebag Darrell on his finger.
