METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett recently revealed that the band were in fact working on new music all throughout the global pandemic.
In a recent interview with Guitar World, Hammett said METALLICA wasn’t exactly sitting around doing nothing throughout the global pandemic and that fans can draw their own conclusions from that.
“Well, let’s just say that over the Covid years, we weren’t just sitting around on the couch texting each other, complaining about how we couldn’t work,” Kirk said. “That was the exact opposite of what happened! We’ve been working through the lost years – so you can draw your own conclusions from that!”
The forthcoming METALLICA record will be the follow-up to the band’s 2016 release “Hardwired… to Self-Destruct“.
During a recent interview that Kirk gave in support of his new solo EP “Portals“, the guitarist mentioned METALLICA engineer Greg Fidelman a couple of times, saying he “had his hands full with all sorts of other Metallica stuff” and “he was up to his neck in other Metallica commitments.”
At this point we think it’s pretty fair speculation that there is new METALLICA music on the way and hopefully it’s sooner than later.
