KORN singer Jonathan Davis questions today’s music industry

KORN and EVANESCENCE kicked off their co-headlining North American tour with Jonathan Davis and Amy Lee sitting down with Interview magazine. During the talk, the two touch on the new generation of artists within the music industry.

KORN‘s Jonathan Davis says: “I’m totally into talent. It seems like music has moved on to a place where it doesn’t matter about talent. It’s about how talented the engineer is at faking everything.”

EVANESCENCE singer Amy Lee adds: “And it has become so much about personalities too, right? I feel like that’s like the new generation. It’s more about a personality than the actual song. I’ve seen their Instagram but like, what is their music? What does that mean to you? But I don’t want to be the old person complaining.”

Davis pipes in: “I know. I am old now.” But as Lee summarizes, “We’re purists. We’re allowed to say it.”

During the opening night of the current tour, Lee joined KORN on stage for a rendition of the song “Freak on a Leash,” which you can check out below.
