With the nü-metal genre experiencing a strong second wave as of late, KORN vocalist Jonathan Davis couldn’t be happier.

In a new rapid-fire Q&A with Metal Hammer, Davis expressed his happiness at the returning era and his love for the band WARGASM.

Davis said: “I’m glad it’s back, but the whole nu-metal thing, it’s just whatever! Ha ha! I like this one band called Wargasm. They’re pretty cool. They’re heavy, but they’re new and different.”

KORN‘s guitarist, Brian “Head” Welch, has expressed similar feelings, saying in his own earlier talk with Metal Hammer that he and the band are proud to be seen as “elders” of the genre.

Welch said: “We’re proud to be seen as scene elders. It’s funny, every band that would be associated with nü-metal never liked that title, because we never gave that tag to ourselves, it was whoever made it up, you know? When you’re in a band, you want to call the shots, you want to be in charge of your branding, and it was someone else who branded us that. And so we were like, ‘No, that’s not cool. So we didn’t like it.

He continued: “But nü-metal, love it or hate it, and Korn, has stood the test of time. And we’re very grateful that we can be looked at as the originators, and that we started something that still reverberates all these decades later, and people are still liking it.”

KORN‘s latest album, “Requiem“, which was produced by Chris Collier and KORN and arrived in February of this year. The record entered Billboard’s Hard Rock Albums chart at No. 1.
