The 2021 MTV Video Music Awards went down last night and almost saw a literal fist fight go down on the red carpet between rap rocker Machine Gun Kelly and MMA fighter Conor McGregor.
According to TMZ, the confrontation started off with McGregor approaching MGK, who was accompanied by his girlfriend, actress Megan Fox on the red carpet, to ask for a photo. Sources told them that Machine Gun Kelly uttered something to the MMA fighter which saw McGregor reply by allegedly throwing his drink at the musician. You can see photos from the encounter below which show security stepping in to separate the two men.
Afterwards, Variety asked MGK what happened during the altercation on the red carpet to which he declined to answer. Instead, he simply walked off as Fox explained: “We’re not allowed to say.”
Pop artist Troye Sivan did however tell a reporter that earlier that evening on the red carpet he witnessed a fight between two individuals, yet didn’t name names.
“You’re going to die,” he said. “I saw some crazy s–t. You’ll see because there was cameras going. Crazy stuff.”
McGregor’s team is denying anything happened at this point, telling Page Six that “Conor only fights fighters,” however the photos below seem to say otherwise.
McGregor presented the award for Artist of the Year, one of the VMAs biggest honors of the night, to Justin Bieber. MGK, who is one of the night’s performers, took home an award after winning Best Alternative for his single “My Ex’s Best Friend.”
Strangely enough, while accepting said award, MGK shouted out the director of the music video, who he admitted he got into a fight with about a year ago while on set.
