MITOCHONDRIAL SUN, the project headed up by ex-DARK TRANQUILITY guitarist Niklas Sundin, will release a new EP titled ‘Bodies And Gold’ on September 10. You can stream the heavily industrial new single “Sic Transit Anima Mundi” just below this article.
‘Bodies And Gold’ features contributions from keyboardist Martin Brändström (DARK TRANQUILITY), cellist Annika Blomfeldt, and bassist Anders Lagerfors.
Musically speaking, the material falls somewhere in between the contemplative and moody debut album and the intense “Sju Pulsarer” follow up.
The songs – from the cinematic and slow moving opener “Sic Transit Anima Mundi” to the industrial full-throttle closing track “Velocities” – differ a lot from each other in style but share the same ominous feelings of of a dystopia ridden landscape.
As part of the new LTD100 series from Argonauta Records, a limited one-time pressing of 100 hand numbered vinyl copies will be made. These will solely be available directly from Argonauta Records and the Mitochondrial Sun Bandcamp page (and not from any external distributors).
