A video has made the rounds online of a MÖTLEY CRÜE gig from earlier this month which seems to show the band using a backing track for Tommy Lee‘s drum parts.

The drum track was revealed when Tommy slips up the count-in to join the band on time for the classic song “Looks That Kill”.

The mis-step was caught in fan-filmed footage from the band’s recent show in Kansas City on July 19, which you can see below.

The concert was part of MÖTLEY CRÜE’s North American “Stadium Tour” with DEF LEPPARD, POISON and JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS.

When you check out the video, you’ll notice the sound of the cymbal can be heard playing just as Tommy is walking towards his drum kit, yet nobody is seated behind the kit.

The footage has sparked rabid debate amongst MÖTLEY CRÜE fans in the comments to the video which was uploaded to YouTube. Some fans are claiming that most of Tommy’s drumming is faked, while others seem argue that he uses triggers to help keep time with the on-stage pyrotechnics the band commonly uses.

Tommy Lee is still recovering from breaking four of his ribs just two weeks prior to the trek kicking off, which you really have to hand to him for showing up night after night and trying the best he can behind the drum kit.  Broken ribs are excruciating to say the least.
