SMASHING PUMPKINS frontman Billy Corgan is currently in mourning following the death of his father, musician William Corgan Sr.
The 74-year-old reportedly suffered a heart attack on Friday (December 17) while in his home. Paramedics revived the elder Corgan him for a brief period, however he passed away soon after while in the helicopter on route to the hospital.
On Saturday (December 18), Corgan shared a video tribute to his father in which he said: “My father had his own struggles with music and had a very complicated and oftentimes bitter relationship with the music business. He assumed that I would have the same. It all started with him, watching him play in basements and at soundchecks and empty stinking bars.”
SMASHING PUMPKINS’ latest album, “Cyr”, was released in November 2020 via Sumerian Records.
