According to Classic Rock, a developer by the name of Miquel Camps Orteza has made the video game featured in RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS’ 1999 music video for “Californication” playable.

The video, which can be seen below, features the four band members presented as video game characters attempting to survive numerous dangerous environments. It’s definitely a cool video which seems to encapsulate the feeling of late 90’s gaming accurately. So much so that making the game a reality became an obsession of Orteza.

“I wanted to play that game so bad! says Orteza.”It’s 2022 and I haven’t seen anyone [make] the game, so I challenged myself to create it. I have selected some epic moments from the video and turned into 7 levels, each one with different game mechanics. I hope you like this game.”

“Californication” the game is available to download on both Windows PC and mac0S, however doesn’t actually feature any music by RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, due to legal restrictions.
