THE MARS VOLTA is now streaming it’s first new single in ten years, called “Blacklight Shine.” You can check out the official video below.

The music video was directed by guitarist and songwriter Omar Rodriguez-López, and clocks in at a massive 11 minutes in length, despite the actual song only being just under 3 minutes.

As of this point, there has been no discussion or announcements about a new studio album from THE MARS VOLTA, however that doesn’t necessarily mean that there isn’t one on the way.

Rumors began to circulate a few years ago that THE MARS VOLTA was in the studio working on a new album – their first since 2012’s “Noctourniquet“.

At that time, THE MARS VOLTA frontman Cedric Bixler-Zavala tweeted “[being] in the studio working on music w the Puerto Rican Bernie Sanders,” which is a moniker for THE MARS VOLTA guitarist Omar Rodríguez-López.

In 2021, a mysterious teaser appeared online, however that turned out to be the band’s 18xLP box set “La Realidad De Los Sueños“.
