During METALLICA’s September 24 show at the Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, Kentucky, the band played the songs “For Whom The Bell Tolls” and “No Leaf Clover” as their contribution to the Global Citizen livestream, a worldwide charity event which was broadcast over 24 hours around the world on Apple Music, the Apple TV app, YouTube and Twitter.

METALLICA previously stated: “We’re honored to support the work that our friends at Global Citizen do day in and day out to help to make the planet a better place.”

Global Citizen, an international advocacy organization, staged events and performances across six continents on September 25 to help unite the world in a bid to defend the planet and defeat poverty. The broadcast featured simultaneous live music events in cities including Rio De Janeiro, Brazil; Lagos, Nigeria; London, England; Paris, France; Sydney, Australia; Seoul, South Korea; and Los Angeles and New York in the U.S.

Back in 2016, METALLICA played a set at the Global Citizen festival in New York City. The free event which took place on the Great Lawn in Central Park aired live on MSNBC.
